“When I let go of what I am,

I become what I might be”

Addressing the physical imbalances of PTSD naturally

PTSD can affect the body on a deep level and cause physical imbalances over a period of time. When you suffer from PTSD, the brain is unable to relax, it’s still in survival mode despite the fact that the threat is over.  Your sympathetic nervous system is in overdrive releasing stress hormones. When your body is in this continual pattern, it actually decreases your level of tolerance to stress.

The most common conventional treatments include CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), SSRI’s like Paxil, Prozac, Lexapro, or Celexa, exposure therapy, or even a stellate ganglion block. Perhaps you have tried some of these options or even all of them. Perhaps you recently got a diagnosis of PTSD and don’t know where to start. For whatever reason, I’m glad you are here.

As a naturopathic physician, my role offers a complementary approach to conventional treatments or an alternative approach to failed treatments. This approach can have a powerful impact on the way you feel as it rebalances both the mind and body.
